FACULTY BIOS
We are now entering and updating all faculty bios for our catalogs and the Juilliard Web site electronically. No longer will you have to wait for that once-a-year opportunity to update your bio; now you may add new-or delete outdated-material at any time. To add a new bio, or to update an existing one, please follow these simple instructions:
Go to https://wa.juilliard.edu:8443/faculty on any browser. If using a PC, Internet Explorer 5 or higher is preferable, as this form may not work properly on Netscape. On this page, enter your Juilliard ID number (which is on the front of your Juilliard ID card below the line that starts with DOB) and your date of birth. Once you have done this, click the submit button and the form with your bio should then appear.
There are five fields for you to fill in: Born; Degrees and Studies; Biographical Information; Faculty Since; Web site. Please be aware that some of the fields have a character limit so that each biography will be kept to a maximum length. Bios are edited by the publications department after being submitted.
In the Born field, enter your place (not date) of birth (City, State, or City, Country).
In Degrees and Studies, list your degrees earned; schools attended; and teachers with whom you've studied (for samples, look at any bio on the Juilliard Web site. Please abbreviate. For example: B.A., Harvard U.; M.A., Ph.D., Columbia U. Piano studies with Rosina Lhevinne, Miklos Schwalb, Ilona Kabos.
In Biographical Information, enter the info you'd like on your bio, including performances, awards, books and articles, recordings, teaching positions other than at Juilliard (information regarding your Juilliard position will go in the “Faculty Since” field), etc. Please use sentence fragments rather then whole sentences. (For example: “Compositions published by TRN Music,” rather than, “Ms. So-and-so has had compositions published by TRN Music.”) This will help you keep to the 1,000 character limit for this field. You may cut and paste this material from a Word, WordPerfect, or other word-processing program document.
In Faculty Since, enter pertinent information relating to your position at Juilliard. (E.G., Faculty since 1969.) If you teach in more than one division, enter it thus: College Division since 1969; Evening Division since 1975. You many also use this box to enter other information. For example, here's how one faculty member used this field: College Division since 1986, graduate studies since 1993. Chairman, Literature and Materials of Music department since 1996; founder/director, Music Technology Center since 1997; advisor, Juilliard Arts and Education Program and Juilliard InterArts Program since 1998
Finally, Web site: IIf you have a Web site to which you'd like us to link from your page on the Juilliard Web site, put the URL here. After you're satisfied with your bio, hit “Submit Changes.” That's it!
You will not see your changes on the Juilliard Web site instantly. The data is uploaded to the Web site on a weekly basis; the changes will appear then. If you would like a photo on your Web page, you may either e-mail it (color or b&w, as a JPEG, 72 dpi) to publications@juilliard.edu, or bring a print or a slide to the Publications Office (Room 442A) and we will scan it for you. Please be sure to label it with your name. Thank you!
