Practice Rooms
Practice rooms are available to all registered students on a first-come basis during normal school building hours. Since practice rooms cannot be reserved, there is absolutely no guarantee that you will be able to find a room at any particular hour of the day. Also, if you leave your room, there is a great likelihood that it will be taken by the time you return. Leaving personal belongings or a student ID does not reserve a practice room. NOTE: Do not leave instruments or other valuables unattended in practice rooms. Juilliard is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Practice rooms are for the use of registered Juilliard students only.  A  valid Juilliard ID is required and must be displayed in the holder provided on each practice room door. You are not permitted to bring outside friends to practice with you. There is no food, drink, or smoking in the practice rooms. Pianos may not be moved and piano stools, benches, and chairs may not be removed from the practice room.

NOTE: Each instrumental major (pianists excepted) is encouraged to obtain a personal folding "wire" music stand. The School is not obliged to supply stands for individual practice or for small "ad hoc" chamber groups. Third-floor orchestra stands are not to be used outside Rooms 305 or 309 under any circumstances.

Please be advised that Pre-College students have privileged use of the practice rooms before 7 p.m. on Saturdays. During that time, College Division students will be allowed to use the practice rooms solely at the discretion of the security officers. No practicing is permitted in the classrooms unless scheduled through the Registrar's Office. You may sign up for a classroom at the Registrar's Office during regular business hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

No practicing is permitted at any time in teaching studios. Also, no music practice is permitted in drama classrooms at any time, except through a special arrangement with the Drama Division office, Room 402. It is not permissible for students to be in possession of Juilliard building keys without authorization from the dean.

The dance studios are for the exclusive use of the Dance Division students. There is a sign-up sheet on Friday afternoons listing the times the dance studios are available for dance student practice. Seniors are given priority for production class, but at other times, sign-ups are done on a first-come, first-served basis. Any members of The Juilliard School wishing to use the dance studios may only do so if they request permission through the Dance Division offices, ext. 255.

The wide range of public information and services provided by this office includes some hometown media placement about student activities, recitals, scholarships, and other honors; radio programming; and the production of printed concert programs (utilizing soloists' bios and photos).

Students selected for concerto or solo performances with Juilliard ensembles must bring a bio and and send a headshot digitally (high resolution - 300 dpi photo) to the Communications Office in Room 210 at 10 a.m. the morning after being chosen.
